What is Disciples in Mission?

Disciples in Mission is a three-year evangelization experience which fosters spiritual growth and renewal and a deeper understanding of our baptismal call to be disciples in our families, neighborhoods and communities. We are called to live and share our faith.

The words evangelization and disciple may conjure up images of knocking on doors and preaching the Gospel from a street corner. But, there are many ways to answer Jesus’ call to be a disciple.

Disciples in Mission is an opportunity to deepen your understanding of scripture, to enrich your prayer life, to grow in your knowledge of the Catholic faith, and to feel comfortable in sharing your faith with others.

There are many ways to evangelize. It can be the quiet, peaceful way a person lives their life that makes you want to be more like him/her. It can be the renewed spirit of compassion and understanding that you feel from reflecting on scripture. It can be the comfort you feel from connecting with others who share your faith that encourages you to continue to grow in Christ.

How can I participate?

  • Prayer Campaign - A prayer campaign will begin the first week of January, and it will continue through Pentecost. We ask that you pray for all of our parishioners who are inspired or encouraged by the Disciples in Mission activities. A special prayer for Disciples In Mission is printed in our parish songbooks and missalettes.  Individual Disciples in Mission prayer cards can be found on the Disciples in Mission table in the downstairs entryway.
  • Bulletin Inserts - Each week during Lent, there will be a one-page, faith-filled, inspiring insert included in the bulletin. Please take time to read and reflect on these teachings. It will be worth it!
  • Adult Faith-Sharing Groups - Small groups will meet once a week during Lent to reflect on the readings from Mass. This is a wonderful way to grow in your faith. The parish will provide a trained facilitator and participant booklets for each group.
  • Teen Faith-Sharing Groups - Teens will also meet once a week during Lent for reflection and sharing on the readings from Mass. It will be fun and challenging! The parish will provide a trained facilitator and participant booklets for teens as well.
  • Family Activities - Disciples in Mission offers families a way to participate in Lenten activities in their own homes. A family activity booklet will be available upon request. We encourage families to join with other families and do the activities together.
  • Parish Reflection Day - This is a special, once a year event which will allow all parishioners to reflect on the strength and weaknesses of St. Anne's and provide parishioners a way to make suggestions on the future direction and activities upon which St. Anne's will focus.
  • Pentecost Novena - Celebrate the end of the Easter Season in a special way by praying with the whole parish for the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Novena prayer cards will be available on the Disciples in Mission table in the church entryway.
