Worship & Spirituality
Purpose
The purpose of the Spiritual Life and Worship Commission is to serve the parish
community in the specific areas of sacramental prayer, teaching prayer, prayer
through the day and retreats. The commission manages various groups and coordinates
activities that support these specific areas. The commission is responsible to
inform the council of their goals and activities.
Objectives
- Sacramental prayer – to plan the celebration of the sacraments, especially the Sunday Eucharist, with great care, so that they are occasions for communal prayer that nourish and uplift the assembly.
- Teaching prayer – to teach people how to pray, including the nature of prayer and the steps in its growth.
- Prayer through the day – to teach people to pray the Liturgy of the Hours with understanding and devotion.
- Retreats – to nourish the faith of parishioners in retreats, days of recollection, devotions and other programs of spiritual enrichment.
Ongoing Activities and Groups
- Teaching and coordination of volunteers to participate in the following ministries:
Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Greeters, Alter Servers and Ushers
- Serve at funeral masses
- Choir ministry
- Coordination of Prayer Hours and devotions
- Prayer Network
- Baptismal Preparation
